Here is a pic I took of the turbine housing off of my GT675RS turbo. I put the manifold gasket up to housing and traced a line in the gasket with my dremel to show the huge difference in port size.
The largest difference is about 1/8 of an inch on the bottom and 3/16" on the corners. Now I don't believe that I have ever heard of anyone port matching a turbo housing to the manifold before, but looking at this, I don't see why anyone would ignore the fact that the turbine housing disrupting exhaust flow. Is it the fact that no one wants to put that much work into it, or people just don't notice? Just in case you are wondering, the manifold and gasket have been matched.
